Peterbilt Company had announced last month that they would be increasing the production of their new 382 model truck at their Denton, Texas truck manufacturing plant. This new model offers exceptional serviceability, aerodynamic efficiency as well as outstanding maneuverability for shorter delivery, haul as well as diminishing loads.

The General Manager for Peterbilt and Vice President for PACCAR, Bill Jackson, said that this truck has optimized steering capabilities and safety for heavy traffic areas, advanced aerodynamics to provide greater fuel efficiency as well as serviceability for reduced operating costs. All of this makes the new Model 382, an ideal truck for regional and short haul markets.

As they delivered the first Peterbilt 382 to the Columbia distribution in the month of December, they are quite excited about increasing the production of their 382 model, delivering customers with ideal savings and performance. The cab of this truck has been designed specifically to meet the driver’s needs, with driver safety and comfort built into the truck.

Because of the sloped hood of the cab, the visibility is greatly increased. While the forward lighting technologically advanced system produces a brighter and broader lighted area. The operating environment of the driver has also been ergonomically designed for keeping the driver productive, comfortable and alert, with door panels which are contoured, gauges that are back-lit as well as rocker switches easily accessible.

Because of the HVAC system there is improved air flow as well as reduced cost of maintenance. A new pad design on the door holds the switches for lock, mirrors and power windows, with double cup holders increasing the convenience for the driver. This truck is powered by an efficient diesel 2010 ISL9 engine from Cummins having the greatest ratio of power to weight in this class including HD features such as wet liners which are replaceable.

There is also an improved ECM or Electronic Control Module as well as better air flow which allows the engine to run shorter and that too with a great responsiveness compared to other engines. The horsepower ranges from 345 to 380 and generates a maximum torque of 1300 pounds feet.

Peterbilt has a reputation for being the industry leader when it comes to innovative engineering, design as well as fuel solutions providing a superior quality truck.
